To wrap up Black History Month, a group of our Year 9 Art students had the privilege of taking part in a workshop delivered by Autograph ABP Gallery. Students excelled in their discussions around identity and representation with exclusive access to Autograph ABP’s archive of portraiture imagery ...of Black and South Asian communities.
We can’t wait to take the boys to a photography workshop at Autograph Gallery next month. @art.st.bons

If you think you can, you can!
We’re incredibly proud to celebrate our amazing Jack Petchey Award Foundation Schools and Clubs winners, Ajay, Ajel, Ashton, David, Emmanuel, Halsey, Jindu, Nana and Zoe!
These outstanding young people have shown dedication, kindness, and ...leadership, inspiring everyone around them.
Earlier this month, our winners attended the fantastic Jack Petchey Celebration Event at Cineworld 02, where they were recognised alongside other incredible young achievers from across Newham. They were all delighted to receive a boxed gold medallion to signify their success.
The audience heard stories of determination, and it was a true celebration of what young people can achieve when they believe in themselves.
Ajel in Year 11 reflected on the evening and his award, “Winning the Jack Petchey Award has shown me that small actions really can make a big difference. The late Sir Jack Petchey was spot on when he famously said, “If you think you can, you can”.

Elections for the School Council, covering Years 7 to 10, took place during last week’s assemblies. Students enthusiastically exercised their right to vote 🗳️ reflecting the principles of British democracy as they chose the candidates they felt would make the greatest contribution to the ...school’s continued development.
Even our beloved Brentwood Catholic Children’s Society (BCCS) mascot, Bonzer the Bonaventurian Bear, joined in by casting his vote.
Congratulations to all the brave candidates who put themselves forward, and especially to those elected. We are excited to see how the new School Council together with the Form Representative cohort will bring their promises to life and make a real difference in the year ahead.

In September, Year 10 students from St Bon’s and St Angela’s had a wonderful trip to Kaiserslautern 🇩🇪Newham’s Twin City.
We reunited with our friends from Rittersberg Gymnasium, who visited us last year. We spent a day in school, attending lessons and taking part in workshops,... took a trip to beautiful Heidelberg, went climbing and had a wonderful picnic with football and lots of food. The highlight was an evening spent at the homes of the German host families, where students were welcomed with open arms.
It was an amazing time of friendship, culture and language learning. We would like to thank the @ukgconnection for helping to fund some of our activities.

@yourplaceuk welcomed Mr Lewis and Mr Chan to their reception for World Homelessness Day. They met up with other TELCO / Newham Citizens leaders at the House of Lords.
1 in 18 people living in Newham are classed as homeless, showing the huge extent of homelessness in our borough. Some are ...sleeping rough, many in temporary accommodation. Broadcaster Matthew Torbitt, who was homeless himself, reminded us all how much we value the sound of our own front door unlocking and opening.
Mr Lewis said, “The guests who spoke were both funny and heartbreaking. Being homeless makes you both invisible and highly visible at the same time. And a reminder that it can happen to anyone - unemployment, relationship breakdown, addiction or just a run of bad luck.”
The good news is that 77 people who were guests of Your Place (formerly Caritas Anchor House) last year now live in their own homes. As they say, they are solving homelessness one person at a time. This will be on our Advent Charities
