Past pupils once stood where our children stand today, and some gave everything for the sake of peace.

As we remember their courage and sacrifice, we hold in our hearts the words of Jesus: “Greater love has no one than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” Please support... the Poppy Appeal this Remembrance season.

We currently have a selection of Poppies and other RLB stationery and merchandise available for sale in our school reception. Donations can be made either in cash or on ParentPay.

Four Year 7 pupils represented St Bonaventure’s (along with Mr Chan & Ms Coutinho) at the Citizens’ UK National Housing Action in Westminster, as part of our wider TELCO work. @citizens.uk

The day was divided into two parts. Firstly, the pupils began the day at St John’s, ...Waterloo, where they took part in workshops listening to testimonies of those experiencing housing challenges, and were also able to share their own experiences. They worked with leaders across the UK to develop strategies for tackling the 3 strands of our campaign: Temporary Accommodation, Repair & Upgrade and Genuinely Affordable Housing.

We then headed to Parliament Square for an action where MPs were gathered amongst leaders from across the UK, to share the impact of poor housing conditions. The boys collaborated with pupils from the St Antony’s Catholic Primary School choir in a performance of campaign song HOMES FOR THE PEOPLE (a new campaign song written by St Bon’s alumni Darren Dixon aka ‘D Double E’ and school chaplain Mr Chan).

Following this was a newly adapted call to action song CAN WE FIX IT? (sung to the theme tune of Bob the Building) where Martin McClusky MP (minster for Energy Security and Net Zero) was called on to ensure that repairing poor quality housing is considered alongside upgrading them with Warm Homes improvements as part of the government’s new grant funding scheme to improve the energy efficiency in homes.

Many pupils and families within the St Bonaventure’s community live in poor housing conditions, which has various adverse effects on their livelihoods: physical health, mental/emotional wellbeing, as well as academic and social development.

Our newly elected School Councillors joined the Year 11 Leadership Team and Mr McCormack for their first official meeting.

During the session, students read and signed the 2025/26 School Council Constitution, discussed ways to care for the school environment, and reflected on their goals ...for the year ahead. Head Boy Ryan thoughtfully quoted St Francis of Assisi: “The only thing ever achieved in life without effort is failure.”

Woody in Year 8 shared: “It was great to meet my fellow Councillors for the first time and explore ideas for bringing meaningful change to the school. I learned a lot about how formal meetings are structured, including the importance of having an agenda and taking accurate minutes.”

We are excited to see what this motivated group achieves this year.

Some of our students are proudly showing off their RE work 😍

We have been learning the creation story, and they have been able to express what they have learnt through beautiful artwork.
