Current School: Holy Family Catholic School
Current Role: Extra-Curricular Co-Ordinator/ 2 i/c Physical Education
Previous Role: Assistant Year Leader
I have been a Teacher for 11 years and in that time I have committed a large portion of it towards developing and enhancing the extra-curricular opportunities here at Holy Family. I have led a multitude of trips ranging from simple learning out of the classroom opportunities and day trips to out of Europe residential and school ski trips. I also manage and run the school’s Duke of Edinburgh Award programme which we have grown from offering only the Bronze level of the award to now offering levels all the way up to Gold.
My role is to oversee the programme of extra-curricular activities here at Holy Family and offer any guidance and support for those who wish to run a trip or start a club. Coordinating the programme often leads to working with outside agencies and gaining sponsorship to be able to run an extensive programme that reaches all students at the school. Over my time in this role I have had to develop and implement a range of different systems to help track, monitor and safeguard students taking part in the programme. My philosophy is based around the importance of children taking their learning and gaining positive enriching experience out of the classroom to develop the whole person though obtaining intangible soft skills.
