John was born in Forest Gate Hospital in 1947 and joined St Bonaventure’s in 1958.

He grew up in Upton Park and attended St Edwards Primary School. He left St Bon’s in 1965 and although now retired John still works part-time self-employed in a shop in Brick Lane trading English glassware and china.

John spent 12 years as a Councillor in Newham including a position as Chair of the Leisure Services Committee.
